Reposted To Help Save You Money: “Do you have any coupons or promo codes for my kid’s school pictures?” “Do you know the best price for Christmas Cards?” I get questions like these a lot. Although I think it is fun to go and find my friends great deals, I often refer them to my go-to site: www.retailmenot.com. They advertise for 500,000+ coupons from 50,000 stores. I am fairly certain that I have used 1/2 of them, or at least a good chunk of them.
I started using RetailMeNot when I was online shopping (check out my other blog, I have been known to have an online shopping addiction) and I was sick of paying shipping! Why should I have to pay another fee just because I am too lazy to go to the store and pick it up? Ha! I started browsing for promo codes and RetailMeNot was the #1 site that consistently kept coming up on my search engine. Eventually, I started looking though my app store and to my surprise, there was an app for it! It was such a lovely sight to see! I could now have coupons in the palm of my hands (literally) at any store (and lots of restaurants) I enter. No more cutting coupons, you now have them right on your phone! In fact, as soon as I walk into a store or restaurant, one of the first things I do, is check if there are any good deals that I can’t pass up.
Here is how you can get started: Download and open up your app, click on the location you are hoping to get a discount on, you can also choose “in store” or “online” offers. If there are none, you can click on an option and they will pass on your request to that particular store. If you have connected RetailMeNot to your email, don’t be surprised to have a coupon emailed directly to you sometime in the near future. You can also star coupons to use later.
If you are more of a computer person instead of an app person, this is still a great site for you. Simply type in the store or restaurant you are looking for and it will instantly give you coupon codes to enter!
Here is an example that I JUST used. We always take our own Christmas photos. I upload them to snapfish.com; add some cute holiday border and Poof! 9 cents a piece. (As opposed to making an actual Christmas card for 63 cents a piece! Yikes!) So, I go to www.retailmenot.com and type in “snapfish” and instantly I get no less than 10 discount codes. I browse what would be best for me and type it in. My best deal? 35% off + free shipping (yup, both deals!) Let’s do the math, folks. If my photos were 9 cents apiece, and I order 100 photos, that is $9.00 Shipping is $5.89. I enter my code (SHOPSNAPFISH) and instant $3.15 off (for the photos) and another $5.89 off (for the shipping). I pay $6.29 TOTAL (I still had to pay tax, bummer!) I was pretty happy with that (now only if I could find some good deal on USPS stamps!) By the way, I linked to snapfish through mypoints.com (remember that site??) and earned points toward more free gift cards and paid with my Delta American Express Card to get free miles!!! During Thanksgiving, I am fairly certain I will be helping my cousins, aunts, parents and grandma save money on their holiday cards, too!
Now, every time a friend of mine asks me to get them a promo code, I direct them to RetailMeNot so they can find one that fits their needs! Then they can make the hard decision between free shipping or 20% off! Check them out on Twitter and Facebook!
